I’ll attend DreamHack Nov 26-29, in Sweden, and it should be not too bad a moment.

It’ll be the first time I go to a gaming event after Gamocracy’s beta launch. How will people react? I’m excited, yet I don’t want to know?

It’ll be my first time there too. At some point, I’d go to maybe 20 gaming events a year. A lot anyway. Yet this one I’ve never attended, I’ll be making up for a miss if you will.

I’ll get to see all those that I know from gaming and I haven’t come across in a long time. Not the least of which will be TaZzmaJazZ (pictured to the right, thx Esportsfrance). After several years working for another Swedish gaming act, TaZz is now one of those making DreamHack real.

He will better introduce to it than most. So everybody in the house, give a big round of applause, for Mr Tazz-Ma-JazZ!

Hello Tazz, what is DreamHack?
It’s the largest computer festival on the planet.

I’m told it’s a 4 days LAN party with 13 000 PC on site…
Basically yes with a minimum of 13 000 people bringing their own computer, it’s the largest LAN ever made in history, but it’s the fastest Internet ever created on earth, a real music festival with live bands coming from all over the world, a movie festival a giant gaming store … The earth shakes when the giant Geek party starts in Sweden!
Just being there feels like a privilege …. Jumping behind your screen, meet who’s who of your contacts and friends for years online, feeling that your perfect city exists, it’s built for 4 days. The privilege to meet my people, all the people from different horizons, who share that passion for digital entertainment, technoculture, gaming and electronic sports as the cherry on the cake. There are no other places in the world like DreamHack, and believe me I’ve been to so many LANs myself…

You’re talking about the fastest internet connection ever, how cheesy is that?! What’s the speed exactly? And who gets to play online with it?
I can’t throw numbers in the air, but I’m inviting you to bring a camera and shoot directly yourself at TELIA booth they usually display those crazy numbers. You might also refer to that interesting clip. Last time I heard it was about a capacity to host 1 billion connections even if we were using around 12 000 computers. Offering a perfect access to the Internet is one of the fundamental ideas at DreamHack, so everyone who brings their PC and connects is given a large bit of that.

I will! During last summer’s event, there was this big debate set up for gamers to discuss piracy with law and politics people. Isn’t Dreamhack all fun and games?
It’s a festival meaning it’s not a political happening and we keep it as a duty to remain politically neutral as a Swedish event and entertainment company. But yes it’s now notorious that we allowed the ‘pros’ and the ‘against’ law to debate freely with Henrik Pontén from the government copyright lobbies on the main stage in Hall D during last summer’s festival. DreamHack is also a platform where IT companies are training and recruiting their own resources, many games editors choose DreamHack to present and announce new releases as well, so I guess for many people it’s an occasion to meet their target groups as it is for other people a way to spread their political message and meet people with whom they share opinions… Sweden is a country with freedom of speech and DreamHack follows the existing laws even if its duty is not to subtitute the law forces or the different censorships. DreamHack is a digital culture gathering, with everything it undertakes.

Last time we talked, you said you were into nightly L4D sessions with the wife, that still holds true? Are you waiting for L4D2 impatiently?
Well well well Inco, something about private life now… There’s not so much I can detail about my wife and I’s night sessions in general, but… YES L4D is the most cooperative and social interactive game I’ve been playing since 99!! And yes we’re playing that game together in Versus at late hours quite often…
L4D2 is even better, it’s quite a physical game with even more intensity and speed than the first, the weapons feeling and the characters are globally one step ahead.
When it comes to the rest of the night you know what part of my French anatomy i will tell you to kiss.

Haha, so you enjoy the demo quite a lot it seems. I  hope you show me what the game is like at DreamHack. I’m looking forward! Thanks for taking the time and talk soon. : )
