To Win This Week
Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010
What? How? You don’t know about our All Out Summer Contest?!!
Well it’s a contest we’re holding under the sun of the Gamocracy. It just started and each week and each month of the summer there’s stuff up for grabs for winners.
To enter, you simply have to let everyone know what you think about one or several PC games, in short form (200 chars + 4 grades), on Gamocracy. More details at the contest page
The full prize list is on the contest page. Today I’m announcing the prize that’ll be up for grabs next Monday at the first weekly drawing.
drumroll?.. drumroll!

RIP Influence
Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010
I was so much into getting the contest up and running these past few days that I didn’t take the time to tell you: Nomalz pulled the plug on Influence a couple nights ago.
The sucker had too many flaws, it just had to die.
It was ambitious, maybe a bit too much, and the name kinda sucked, too. It was very good in other aspects though, first because it allowed me to discover Tunkrank and meet its inventor, Daniel Tunkelang. If you’re into social media influence measurements, you should take a look.
I also got to play with an algorithm, something I didn’t think was possible for my little brain of a litterature person. I wish I can do it again someday with the means to get more feedback tools to monitor results.
Finally, we’re getting away from the Influence experiment with something that’ll be useful again very soon: a way to measure the quality of your pwnz! and an equation that goes with it. That we’re going to keep close to the chest until the time is right.
While I’m not saying we won’t have some kind of user-related global measurement like Influence ever again, that won’t happen tomorrow, or even next year. That said, something else will soon come and take on Influence’s role, that is rewarding good writers and letting new comers know whose words are to be trusted.
Hopefully it’ll work better for everyone!
